Integrating Risk Prevention into the Grant Writing Process

Every year there are more and more cases of grant fraud. Effective grant management is important, but not enough. Grant risk prevention begins at the beginning of the grant writing process. This interactive session will examine how Grant Writers and Grant Managers can work together to reduce or eliminate grant risk factors; how Lone Star College is using grant writing tools and techniques to reduce risk; and how to use common grant sections as tools for risk prevention. Learning Objectives:
- To learn the difference between risk, risk management, and risk prevention.
- To learn how grant writing impacts the grant management process.
- To learn the three R’s of Risk- Risk Factors, Risk Assessment, and Risk Prevention.
- To learn four types of grant risk factors.
- To learn about grant writing techniques and tools that assist with assessing grant risk.
- To learn about grant writing techniques and tools that assist in eliminating or decreasing grant risk factors.
