PRESENTATIONS:

High Risk Compliance Areas and Best Practices for Grants Management

Presented by Capital Edge Consulting

Oversight of federal programs has intensified since the introduction of Uniform Guidance and organizations are still adapting to the compliance requirements. Single Audit findings suggest that organizations are still struggling with cost allocation, time and effort reporting, subrecipient monitoring, and procurement. In this discussion we will touch on each of the high risk compliance areas and review best practices to help organizations avoid costly audit findings.

Understanding Indirect Cost and True Cost and the Impact on Grants

Nicolie Lettini, MBA, VP of Indirect Services, eCivis, Inc.

With the Uniform Grants Guidance in full effect knowing and understanding your true cost has never been so important. What is the difference of indirect cost and direct cost? How do you calculate your indirect cost to assure your maximum reimbursement? Does it really matter now with the 10% de-minus? The answer is yes! During this session, we will discuss and work through a case study on Indirect Costs, the different methods of calculating it, what it means as it relates to grants and how it can affect the sustainability of your organization and the impact you can achieve. We will also talk about how with the Uniform Grant Guidance knowing your true cost can affect your risk assessment in a positive way.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review and Discuss Actual Recent Single Audit Findings
  • Identify High Risk Compliance Areas
  • Review and Discuss Best Practices for Grants Management in High Risk Areas
