Steven Spillan Elected to NGMA Board of Directors

May 1, 2026 – MANASSAS, VA – Steven Spillan, Esq., CGMS, a partner with The Bruman Group, has been elected to serve on the National Grants Management Association (NGMA) Board of Directors. His three-year term began on May 1.

Throughout his career, Spillan has worked with clients on federal grants management across various federal grant programs and helped them ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations under the Uniform Guidance (UG). He routinely trains clients on applicable grants management rules; assists clients with maintaining their federal grants policies and procedures; conducts mock monitoring reviews to detect areas of improvement in a non-federal entity’s internal controls; and helps clients resolve audit or monitoring findings.

“Steven Spillan has a successful track record not only with his clients, but with NGMA, training and educating members on grants management issues through numerous Association events,” said Lashon Brown, NGMA President. “The NGMA Board welcomes Steven and the comprehensive knowledge and expertise he brings to the Association.”

Spillan earned a Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. He has led NGMA Grants Management Body of Knowledge (GMBoK) trainings and has been a speaker at NGMA’s Annual Grants Training, the largest annual training event in the grants management profession. He also assists numerous nonprofit organizations in improving their organizational structure to ensure optimal efficiency and efficacy.

Spillan was elected by Association members by majority vote during the NGMA Board elections in February 2026. The NGMA Board of Directors is comprised of 12 member volunteers with experience in professional leadership roles and in grants management across numerous sectors including federal, state and local governments; education (K-12 and institutes of higher education); nonprofits; and tribal governments.

NGMA supports more than 7,500 professionals across grants management, including supervisory, support, accounting and compliance roles.
