Applicants must submit the following documents during the Call for Applications time period (listed in the timeline).

About NES and the Candidate Review Process

The Nomination and Elections Subcommittee (NES) of the NGMA Board of Directors is composed of a mixture of representatives from the NGMA Board of Directors and general members. It is charged with developing a recruitment plan and profile for each election cycle, soliciting and reviewing nominations, vetting candidates and determining the final slate of candidates (no more than three per open seat).

Applicants are scored on criteria that include engagement in NGMA and leadership skills, such as communications ability, strategic thinking, financial literacy and governance experience.

The NES is seeking to fill five (5) vacancies on the NGMA Board of Directors based on the below profiles that prioritize needed competencies, perspective and expertise.

Requirements to Serve

Board member expectations

  • Attend Board Meetings: The NGMA Board meets virtually 6-7 times per year and in-person 1-3 times per year. Travel is reimbursed according to NGMA's Board Travel Policy.
  • Prepare for Board Meetings: This includes reading documents prior to Board and Committee meetings in order to participate and vote. Proxy voting is not permitted.
  • Serve on Board Committee: All Board members are required to serve on at least one (1) Board Committee. These committees meet remotely 8-12 times per year, based on project needs.
  • Commit to a Culture of Ethical Decision-Making: The NGMA Board leads the organization and is held to a high standard of ethical, conflict-free decision-making. Directors are required to sign the Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality forms annually and to disclose potential conflicts throughout the course of NGMA Board service.

Engagement and Time Commitment:

NGMA Board members are entrusted with advancing the Association’s mission and providing oversight of the organization through active, thoughtful participation. This includes preparing for and attending Board and Committee meetings. Directors may expect to spend 3 to 8 hours per month dedicated to NGMA service.
