About NES and the Candidate Review Process

The Nomination and Elections Subcommittee (NES) of the NGMA Board of Directors is composed of a mixture of representatives from the NGMA Board of Directors and general members. It is charged with developing a recruitment plan and profile for each election cycle, soliciting and reviewing nominations, vetting candidates and determining the final slate of candidates (no more than three per open seat).

Applicants are scored on criteria that include engagement in NGMA and leadership skills, such as communications ability, strategic thinking, financial literacy and governance experience.

Candidate Vacancies & Profiles

The NES is seeking to fill five (5) vacancies on the NGMA Board of Directors based on the below profiles that prioritize needed competencies, perspective and expertise.

Profile 1

Candidates with experience in financial operations

Profile 2

Candidates with legal knowledge or a nonprofit policy development background

Profile 3

Candidates from the local government, nonprofit and education sectors

All candidates are required to have general board competencies.

Engagement and Time Commitment:

NGMA Board members are entrusted with advancing the Association’s mission and providing oversight of the organization through active, thoughtful participation. This includes preparing for and attending Board and Committee meetings. Directors may expect to spend 3 to 8 hours per month dedicated to NGMA service.
