FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 29, 2025 – STERLING, VA – The National Grants Management Association (NGMA) is proud to announce that its CGMS Certified Grants Management Specialist certification program has received accreditation through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The initial accreditation is for five years, through September 30, 2030
NGMA received NCCA accreditation of the CGMS program by submitting an application demonstrating the program’s compliance with NCCA’s Standards for the Accreditation of Certified Programs. NCCA is the accrediting body of the Institute of Credentialing Excellence. The CGMS program is one of 310 NCCA-accredited programs that certify individuals in a wide range of professions and occupations.
Achieving accreditation establishes the CGMS program as a trusted and respected credential in grants management. Earning the CGMS credential reflects a professional’s mastery of the grant lifecycle, commitment to continuing education, and positions them as leaders within the grants management field.
“Accreditation cements CGMS as the certification to earn in grants management,” said Rebecca Silva, CGMS, CICA, Certification Council Chair. “Earning the certification from an accredited program provides a competitive edge to win sought-after grants and establish oneself as a trusted leader in their organization, community and profession.”
Currently, there are 382 CGMS holders throughout the United States and internationally, from a variety of sectors, including federal, state and local governments; nonprofits; higher education; K-12 education; tribal governments; and private industries.
