| Setting Up and Managing Emergency Grants
in T
imes of Crisis
Presented by Caitlin Stainken, Director of New Business, Submittable; Keriann Strickla
nd, Director of Product Marketing, Submittable
The recent COVID-19 pandemic and social justice movement have reminded us
that philanthropy can’t always wait—even for a few weeks—and that while th
e grantmaking process is often long and thorough for a reason, sometimes we
have to expedite the process in order to do what grants do best: help conn
ect resources to the people who need them most.
At Submittable,
we have the unique opportunity to watch thousands of grantmakers go about
their business each day. In recent months, we've seen how foundations and o
rganizations have stepped up quickly, creatively, and with great resolve an
d compassion to mainline assistance to groups who can use it most. We'll sh
are what we've learned from our clients about how to set up and manage emer
gency grants with maximum efficiency, for maximum impact.
Learning Objectives:
Nine strategies for managing an emergency grant
Examples of organizations implementing these strate
gies and how they're doing it
How to kee
p long-term goals and analysis in sight even in emergency and what your "no
rmal" process might learn from emergency grants
